Summer

Não poderia concordar mais com o que se costuma dizer acerca do Verão: ele torna tudo melhor. E por muito que acredite que todas as estações do ano têm a sua magia e o seu ar de graça, o Verão é diferente. Para mim o Verão é sinónimo de leveza, de descontracção, de gargalhadas, noitadas com os amigos, convívios ao pôr do sol, gelados na praia. É sinónimo de amores que achamos que vão durar para sempre, de beijinhos debaixo de água e de mergulhos à meia-noite. É sinónimo de areia nos pés descalços, cabelos desgrenhados, olhos brilhantes, bochechas rosadas pelo sol, sorrisos verdadeiros. E o que é que poderia ser melhor que isto tudo? Nada.


I couldn't agree more with what it's said about Summer: it makes everything better. And as much as I try to believe that every time of the year has its magic and its air of grace, Summer is different. To me Summer means lightness, relaxation, laughs, nights out with our friends, gatherings under the sunset, ice creams on the beach. It means loves that we think that are gonna last forever, underwater kisses and midnight dives. It means sand in our barefoot feet, messy hair, sparkly eyes, sun-kissed cheeks, true smiles. And what could be all of this? Nothing.

My favourite time of the day

A única coisa que podemos ter a certeza em relação ao café é que onde quer que estejamos vamos ter sempre por perto qualquer coisa como risos, sorrisos, confissões, amores, engates, controvérsia, opiniões fortes e uma boa conversa.

The only thing that is certain about coffee is that no matter where we are we will always have around something like laughs, smiles, confessions, loves, flirts, controversy, strong opinions and a good conversation.

Gypsy Inspiration

Descobri esta marca de roupa australiana: Spell & the Gypsy Collective há uns tempos através do instagram e fiquei completamente apaixonada por todas as peças e pelo que a marca representa. As roupas são muito leves, coloridas, descontraídas e como o nome indica, têm uma grande inspiração "cigana". Deixo-vos aqui algumas fotografias retiradas do lookbook desta marca com uma das minhas modelos preferidas, Bambi Northwood-Blyth. Espero que gostem.


I discovered this australian fashion brand: Spell & the Gypsy Collective a little time ago thanks to instagram and I fell in love with all their pieces and with all that this brand represents. All the clothes are very light, colorful, relaxed and as the name indicates, they have a huge gyspy inspiration. I leave you here some photographies from their lookbook with one of my favourite models, Bambi Northwood-Blyth. I hope you like it as much as I do.

 

Street art

Os grafittis são considerados por muitos apenas rabiscos nas paredes e os artistas que os pintam considerados vândalos, mas para mim não. Para mim são uma das mais bonitas formas de expressarmos o que estamos a sentir naquele momento e são uma das formas mais fáceis de fazermos chegar a nossa mensagem a um maior número de pessoas. Podem surgir pela forma de grafittis, stencils, stickers ou cartazes. Os meus preferidos são os stencils que têm muitas vezes frases que nos fazem parar para as lermos duas vezes e que nos fazem pensar e repensar nalgumas coisas. Aqui ficam algumas fotografias que fui tirando ao longo deste último ano.

Grafitti is still considered by many just scribbles on the walls and the artists who paint them considered vandals, but not to me. To me they are one of the most beautiful ways to express what we are feeling at the moment and they are one of the easiest ways to do get our message to a larger number of people. They can arise by graffitis, stencils, stickers or posters. My favourites are the stencil that most of the times have sentences that make us stop to read them twice and that make us think and re-think about stuff. Here are some street art photos that I took over this past year.

Sobre mim: Bem, antes de mais olá! Chamo-me Mónica, tenho 18 anos e sou de Lisboa. Passei agora para o 2º ano do curso de Estudos Gerais da Faculdade de Letras de Lisboa. Este curso é novo cá em Portugal, mas já é há muito conhecido no estrangeiro, onde é chamado Liberal Arts e consiste em estudar áreas completamente distintas mas que no fundo acabam por estar todas interligadas como: Literatura, Arte e Ciências. Apesar de gostar de áreas muito diferentes, desde sempre demonstrei uma certa preferência por algumas áreas específicas, sendo elas comunicação, fotografia, arte, moda, música, cinema e teatro e foi por esta mesma razão que decidi criar este blog. Para partilhar com vocês todas as coisas que me inspiram e que me preenchem a alma todos os dias. Espero que gostem!

About me: Well, first of all hello! My name is Mónica, I'm 18 years old and I'm from Lisbon, Portugal. I just finished the 2nd year of Liberal Arts at the University of Lisbon and it consists in studying completely different areas but that we know that in the end are all connected like: Literature, Art and Sciences. Although I like very distinct areas I always showed a certain preference for a few specific areas such as communication, photography, art, fashion, music, cinema and theatre and that was the main reason why I decided to create this blog.
